Section 2707 - The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance will contract with an outside firm to perform an assessment of Tennessee’s Essential Health Benefit (EHB) package to determine whether plans are affordable and whether the EHB package meet the needs of the individual and small group markets. Consultants will also review neighboring State’s EHB packages with average premium rates that are lower than those available to Tennessee consumers. The assessment will also include a review of pharmacy benefits as Tennessee’s health insurance carriers identify pharmacy costs as a cost driver in premium calculations.
